A Graeae witch prosthetic.

The backstory of my character lies upon the sister Dino, the story begins with three creature like witches living in an abandoned city that was destroyed during the war between Titan and king of all the Gods, Zeus, the witches are known to crave human flesh and will attack any living being that comes their way.

The witches share only one eye among themselves and can be only used to reveal the location of their sister Medusa.

The three sisters were threatened by the Perseus to reveal the location, this led the witches to attack Perseus, who ended up killing two of the witches. Hero Perseus left only one sister alive, Dino, who he threatened to either reveal the location or the eye will be destroyed. Dino gave Perseus the location of Medusa so she could keep the eye for herself.

Construction of GRAEAE WITCH:

NSP Chavant Clay Soft was used for sculpting; Carbon Fibre was used to create a Fibre Glass core from the corrective core mould. Carbon Fibre is made out of Carbon and Kevlar fibres, which creates a strong and lightweight core mould. For the measurement of the silicone the clay from the sculpt needed to be measurement to provide an estimate measurement for the silicone. Platsil Gel 10 Silicone rubber will be used to create the prosthetic piece, the product is mostly used to create prosthetic pieces as it provides a flesh like result. To create the flesh like result the product is mixed with Smith’s Theatrical Prosthetic Deadener, the deadener is used to soften the Platsil Gel 10 Silicone. The prosthetic piece is made out of silicone, painting silicone-based can have difficulties due to the material to rebel certain products. Products such as water- based paints do not adhere to the silicone; instead, products such as Psycho paint are silicone-based paint, as well alcohol paints products are able to adhere to the material. The Psycho paint is mixed with part A and B, with the use of white spirit to thin down the product. To add colour to the silicone based paint, ‘Silc Pigs’ are pigments by ‘Smooth on’ are silicone based pigments used in products such as Psycho paint; other products such as oil paints can also be used in Psycho paint. The ‘Silc Pigs’ created a good based for the prosthetic piece, it had difficulty adding definition to the details, the paint needed to be added in layers with the curing time of 2 hours. For alternatives paints such as Alcohol paint is a good use for prosthetic painting, due to the product having a thick and stronger constituency, it provided definition to the details and help strengthen the colours. The application for the prosthetic needed two different types of adhesive; Snappy G is a silicone based adhesive, providing the strength and non-irritation towards the skin. Pros-aide is a silicone based adhesive used to sealed and blended the edges of the prosthetic. The prosthetic was pre-painted before the application, areas such as the head, neck, and chest areas needed to be painted. Airbrush paints are skin safe water based products; due to the silicone based prosthetic, water based products do not adhere to the material. Affecting the application for the airbrush paints; However, the prosthetic is pre-painted giving only the cap plastic to be painted. Other products such as Alcohol paints are used to create texture and blend the edges of the cap plastic and bald cap. a product called Dragon Skin is a silicone based product used to for applications and creating realistic skin affects; the product provides strength and is very flexible. The product was used to apply the tooth to the prosthetic.
